Each region sets its own criteria. The table below presents the base amounts, the increased amount for low-income households and the key conditions to meet.

What makes your window grant vary
The grant amount is not fixed: six parameters determine what you are entitled to. We check them systematically before pricing your net quote.
- Income category
This is the main lever: a low-income family can obtain three to six times more than a standard household. The brackets are revised every year.
- Glazing Ug value
Every region requires a Ug (glazing thermal transmittance coefficient) ≤ 1,1 W/m²K, sometimes 1,0 for certain schemes. Standard glazing is not enough.
Understanding double glazing → - Age of the home
Most grants require a home at least 10 years old. The 6% VAT rate follows the same rule. A new build is generally not eligible.
- Prior audit
In Wallonia, the highest amounts require a housing audit carried out by an accredited auditor before the works. We point you to the right experts.
- Accredited contractor
A registered contractor (Wallonia) or a Renovatiepact-certified one (Flanders) is mandatory. Wendows is registered in all three regions.
- 6% VAT + grant combined
The reduced 6% VAT and the regional grant can be combined: together they often represent 25 to 35% of the works amount excl. VAT.

Prime Habitation — exterior joinery
Wallonia’s Prime Habitation funds the replacement of exterior windows and glazing. The base amount is 40 €/m², multiplied according to your income category.
- Glazing: Ug ≤ 1,1 W/m²K (high-performance double or triple glazing)
- Contractor registered in Wallonia and itemised invoice
- Prior housing audit mandatory for the highest income categories
- Main home at least 10 years old
Renolution grants — joinery
The Renolution scheme of the Brussels-Capital Region covers the replacement of windows and glazing with three income categories that significantly raise the amount.
- Insulating windows and high-performance glazing (Ug ≤ 1,1 W/m²K)
- Home over 10 years old located in the Brussels-Capital Region
- Application submitted within 12 months of the final invoice
- Renolution-accredited contractor required

Can I combine the regional grant and the 6% VAT?
Yes, the two benefits can be combined as soon as your home is more than 10 years old. The 6% VAT reduces the calculation base of your works, and the regional grant then reduces the remaining amount. Together they can cover 25 to 35% of the works amount excl. VAT.
What Ug value is required to obtain the grant?
All Belgian regions require a glazing thermal transmittance coefficient (Ug) ≤ 1,1 W/m²K. In practice this corresponds to high-performance double glazing or triple glazing. Standard glazing (Ug ≈ 2,8 W/m²K) does not qualify for the grant.
Do I need an audit before the works?
In Wallonia, a housing audit carried out by an accredited auditor is mandatory to reach the highest grant categories. For the base amounts, the audit is not required. In Brussels and Flanders, the audit is not mandatory for windows.
Do I have to advance the grant?
Not necessarily. When the regional mechanism allows it, we deduct the grant directly from your invoice. Otherwise you receive it after the works — generally within 2 to 4 months. In both cases, the quote shows the net amount.
Is the grant the same whatever the material (PVC, aluminium, wood-aluminium)?
Yes. Regional grants are calculated on the surface area replaced (in m²) and the glazing Ug, regardless of the window material. An aluminium window and a PVC window with the same high-performance glazing entitle you to the same grant amount.
