Replacing your oil or gas boiler with a heat pump

Oil and gas keep getting more expensive, and fossil-fuel boilers are living their final years. We help you switch to an air-to-water heat pump connected to your existing radiators or underfloor heating — oil tank removal included, enhanced replacement grant deducted from the quote, and a heating bill cut down to a fraction.

Why leave fossil fuels

Three good reasons to ditch oil and gas

Replacing a fossil-fuel boiler with a heat pump isn’t just swapping an appliance: it’s leaving behind an energy source that keeps getting pricier, that will gradually be banned from sale, and that weighs heavily on your emissions.

A lighter bill

Where a boiler burns a litre of oil or a m³ of gas for one unit of heat, an air-to-water heat pump returns three to four. Over a Belgian winter, your heating costs can be cut by half to two-thirds.

The announced end of fossil fuels

Sales of oil boilers are already restricted and gas is following the same path. Anticipating the switch means avoiding reinvesting in an energy source on borrowed time and being caught by a breakdown with no fallback.

Halved emissions

An oil boiler releases several tonnes of CO2 per year. By switching to a heat pump, powered by electricity and ideally by your own solar panels, you cut these direct emissions off at the source.

How the switch works

From oil to heat pump, with no heating cut-off

  1. Assessment & circuit compatibility

We measure your heat losses, your emitters and the temperature of your current circuit to check that an air-to-water heat pump connects directly — or to decide on a hybrid transition.

  2. Quote net of the replacement grant

We build the file for the enhanced grant for leaving fossil fuels, deduct the amount from the quote and apply the 6% renovation VAT. You see your real out-of-pocket cost.

  3. Boiler & oil tank removal

We dismantle the old boiler, then drain, neutralise and remove the oil tank by the book, before clearing the boiler-room space.

  4. Installation, connection & commissioning

Heat pump fitted on the existing circuit, hydraulic and electrical connection, heating-curve setting and handover. You keep your heat throughout the operation.

Full heat pump or hybrid?

Full switch or hybrid transition

If your home is properly insulated and your emitters are suitable, we remove the boiler and oil tank to go all-heat-pump. If the circuit still needs very hot water in deep cold, a hybrid heat pump keeps a backup while you improve insulation, then we cut the fossil fuel.

  • All-heat-pump: boiler and oil tank removed, no more fuel at all
  • Hybrid transition: heat pump + backup for cold peaks, insulation to be reinforced
  • In both cases, the replacement grant remains conditional on leaving fossil fuels

Frequently asked questions

Replacing your boiler with a heat pump

Can I keep my existing radiators?

In most cases, yes. An air-to-water heat pump connects to the existing heating circuit, both radiators and underfloor heating. The thermal assessment checks the required operating temperature: if your radiators are correctly sized, no replacement is needed. Otherwise, we target a few emitters or opt for a hybrid transition.

What happens to my oil tank?

We handle it entirely. The tank is drained, degassed and neutralised in line with regulations, then removed or filled in if it is buried. You reclaim the boiler-room space and are permanently freed from deliveries and tank inspections.

Is the grant higher if I replace a fossil-fuel boiler?

Yes. The regional grant is designed precisely to encourage leaving oil and gas: replacing fossil-fuel heating with a heat pump qualifies for the enhanced amount. We build the file and deduct the grant directly from the quote where possible, so you know your out-of-pocket cost from the start.

Will I really lower my bill?

An oil or gas boiler turns roughly one unit of purchased energy into one unit of heat; an air-to-water heat pump produces three to four for the same electricity consumed. Heating costs are generally cut by half to two-thirds, and even more if you pair the heat pump with solar panels.

Is the heating cut off during the works?

No. We plan the removal of the old boiler and the heat-pump installation to keep the interruption to a few hours, usually over one to two days. In a hybrid transition, the backup stays available throughout the switch.

Are you ready to switch?

Is your installation ready for a heat pump?

A few points show whether you can go straight to all-heat-pump or whether a hybrid transition is better. Tick the ones that apply to you.

  • Your oil or gas boiler is over fifteen years old or showing signs of fatigue
  • Your home is over ten years old (6% renovation VAT applicable)
  • Your roof, walls or window frames are already insulated, at least in part
  • You have outdoor space for the heat pump unit
  • Your electrical panel can accommodate a dedicated supply
  • You have (or are considering) solar panels to power the heat pump
