Window grant Wallonia 2026: amounts and procedure
The Walloon Prime Habitation covers the replacement of your glazed exterior joinery. Base amount: 40 €/m², multiplied by 2 to 6 depending on your income category. We check your entitlements, quote net of grant and build the application.
Indicative 2026 amounts. Home audit required for the highest rates.
Prime Habitation by income category
The base amount is 40 €/m² of glazed area replaced. It is multiplied according to your income category. A prior home audit would unlock the increased rates.
| Income category | Base amount without audit | Increased with audit home audit carried out | Specific conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cat. I — precarious incomesMaximum rate | 160 €/m² | 240 €/m² | Cat. I income cap, home owner-occupied or rented |
| Cat. II — modest incomesUpper intermediate rate | 80 €/m² | 120 €/m² | Cat. II income cap, registered contractor |
| Cat. III — middle incomesIncreased base rate | 40 €/m² | 80 €/m² | Home audit required for the increased rate, Ug ≤ 1.1 W/m²K |
The amounts apply to the net glazed area replaced (glazing only, excluding the frame). For landlords, specific caps apply. Compare with grants in Brussels and Flanders.
What determines the amount of your grant
The grant is not automatic: several technical and administrative conditions must be met. Here are the key points.
- Thermal performance Ug ≤ 1.1 W/m²K
The glazing must reach a thermal transmittance coefficient Ug less than or equal to 1.1 W/m²K. High-efficiency double glazing or triple glazing. Standard glazing does not qualify for the grant.
- Registered contractor in Wallonia
The work must be carried out by a company registered with the SPW. The invoice must mention the registration number, the detailed description and the area replaced.
- Existing occupied home
The grant targets exclusively the renovation of an existing home. New construction is excluded. The home must be occupied as a main residence or rented out in Wallonia.
- Prior home audit
To benefit from the increased amounts (×2 rate or more), a home audit carried out by an SPW-accredited auditor is required before the work. We can refer you to a partner auditor.
Learn more about the audit → - Application deadline after work
The application must be submitted within 3 years of the date of the final invoice. After this deadline, the right to the grant is lost. We ensure deadlines are met.
- Detailed and compliant invoice
The invoice must detail the glazed area replaced, the type of glazing and its Ug performance, as well as the fitting cost separate from the supply. We ensure our invoicing is compliant.
The Prime Habitation Wallonia in detail
The Prime Habitation is the main Walloon scheme for the replacement of glazed exterior joinery. It combines with the 6% VAT on renovation.
Prime Habitation — exterior joinery
The grant covers the replacement of windows, French doors and glazed exterior doors with high-performance glazing (Ug ≤ 1.1 W/m²K). The amount is calculated on the net glazed area.
- Glazing Ug ≤ 1.1 W/m²K (high-efficiency double or triple)
- SPW-registered contractor, detailed invoice
- Existing home in Wallonia (owned or rented)
- Prior home audit for the increased Cat. II and III amounts
6% VAT on renovation
For any home over 10 years old, the VAT applicable to window replacement work is 6% instead of 21%. This reduced rate combines with the Prime Habitation.
- Home completed more than 10 years ago
- Private use as a main purpose
- Explicit mention of the reduced rate on the invoice

Your questions on the Prime Habitation for windows
What is the amount of the Prime Habitation for windows in 2026?
The base amount is 40 €/m² of glazed area replaced. It is multiplied according to your income category: up to 160 €/m² in Cat. I without audit (240 €/m² with audit), 80 €/m² in Cat. II (120 €/m² with audit) and 40 €/m² in Cat. III (80 €/m² with audit). These amounts are indicative and to be reconfirmed based on your situation.
What glazing performance is required for the grant?
The glazing must present a thermal transmittance coefficient Ug less than or equal to 1.1 W/m²K. This is the case for high-efficiency double glazing (HR+) and triple glazing. Standard glazing does not meet this requirement and does not qualify for the grant. Our supplies systematically meet this threshold.
Is the home audit mandatory for the grant?
The home audit is not mandatory to obtain the base grant, but it is required to access the increased amounts (×2 on the base rate). It must be carried out by an SPW-accredited auditor before the start of the work. We can refer you to a partner auditor if needed.
Does the grant combine with 6% VAT?
Yes. The Prime Habitation and the reduced 6% VAT are two independent schemes that combine. The 6% VAT applies automatically to any home over 10 years old used privately as a main residence. The grant is calculated and deducted on top.
Who must submit the grant application: the owner or the installer?
It is the home owner who submits the application to the SPW Énergie. wendows builds the full application for you: forms, technical annexes and a copy of the compliant invoice. You only have to sign and send.
Within what deadline must the grant be requested after the work?
The application must be submitted within 3 years of the date of the final invoice. After this deadline, the right to the grant is definitively lost. wendows reminds you of the deadlines and ensures the application is submitted on time.
