Custom doors: security, insulation and design in a single piece
The entrance door is your home’s first impression — and its most vulnerable point. Our custom doors combine a reinforced insulating panel, a multi-point lock and a bespoke design. French doors and service doors round out the range for every access point.

What a custom door is really worth
The numbers that matter for a quality door, fitted by our teams. Concrete benchmarks, not marketing.
- Security RC2 / RC3
Multi-point lock (5 to 7 locking points), reinforced strike plates, anti-pick and anti-drill cylinder. Aluminium doors reach RC3 class for the most demanding burglary levels.
- Thermal insulation Ud 0.9–1.4 W/m²K
The door panel is filled with high-density insulating foam. Coupled with a thermally broken threshold, the whole unit insulates as well as a well-insulated wall.
- Design Bespoke
Dozens of models: solid panels, decorative glazing, stainless pull handles, RAL colours. The door is tailored to the home’s style and your taste.
- Acoustic insulation up to 42 dB
A well-designed entrance door reaches 38 to 42 dB of reduction — enough to cut out street noise the moment you cross the threshold.
- Materials Alu · PVC · wood
Aluminium leads on security and design. PVC offers the best value for money. Wood brings charm for character homes.
- Types Entrance · French · service
Entrance door (solid or glazed panel), French door (terrace access, 1 or 2 sashes), service door (garage, utility room). Each access point has its door.
* Indicative values for standard-range doors. Exact performance depends on the model, the material and the glazing — confirmed at the site survey.
Pros & cons by type of door
The choice between an alu, PVC or wood door depends on budget, style and the level of security you’re after.
Aluminium doors — the benchmark
- Maximum securityAluminium is the most break-in-resistant material — RC3 class possible.
- Unlimited contemporary designBespoke panels, glazing, RAL shades, stainless pull handles — a blank canvas.
- Reinforced insulationHigh-density foam panel and thermally broken threshold.
- Zero maintenancePowder-coated aluminium only needs an occasional clean.
What you should know
- Higher price in aluA design aluminium door costs noticeably more than a standard PVC door.
- Wood needs upkeepStain or paint to redo on the outside, like wooden window frames.
- Significant weight (alu, wood)Heavy doors need reinforced hinges and a solid load-bearing wall.
- Lead time on bespokeCustom doors have a longer manufacturing lead time than standard ones.
Which door for which access point?
Each access point in the home has its type of door. Three common cases:
-
Entrance door
The centrepiece: multi-point security, reinforced insulation and a bespoke design. Aluminium is the no.1 choice for a contemporary look.
-
French door (terrace access)
One or two sashes to reach the garden or balcony. In PVC for budget, in alu for design, with an optional low threshold.
-
Service door
Garage, utility room, cellar: an insulated, secure door without the customisation of an entrance. Standard PVC, budget under control.
For a large, clutter-free opening onto the terrace, the slider offers more width and a step-free threshold. We compare both options at the site survey.

A tired wooden door replaced by a design aluminium door
The wooden entrance door was swollen, poorly insulated and not very secure. We fitted a custom aluminium door with a foam panel, a 5-point lock and frosted side glazing. The entrance gained in security, insulation and character.

Your questions about doors
Which door is the most secure? +
Aluminium offers the best break-in resistance thanks to its rigidity. An RC3 alu door with a 5-point lock, an anti-pick cylinder and laminated glazing offers a very high level of security.
Is a PVC entrance door enough? +
In terms of insulation, absolutely. On security, an RC2 PVC door with multi-point locking offers a good level, enough for most homes. Aluminium takes over if you’re aiming for RC3 or a highly bespoke design.
What insulation should an entrance door have? +
Performance is measured in Ud (d for "door"). A good door drops to 1.0–1.4 W/m²K thanks to the foam panel and the insulated threshold. That’s comparable to a well-insulated wall — the door is no longer the weak point of the facade.
Can you have glazing on an entrance door? +
Yes: side panels, a fanlight or a decorative glazed panel. We use laminated glass for security and frosted or ornamental glass for privacy. Light comes in without compromising security.
French door or slider for the terrace? +
The French door suits standard-sized openings (up to ~1.4 m per sash). For large widths or step-free, clutter-free passage, the slider or lift-and-slide is preferable.
What grants are available for a door? +
Grants depend on performance (Ud coefficient) and on replacing an existing, poorly insulated door. Renovation grant and 6% VAT for homes over ten years old, depending on the region and your income.
