Heat pump installation price in Belgium 2026
The HP itself is only part of the bill. Mounting, the hydraulic connection and the electrical wiring often represent 25 to 40% of the total budget. Here are the real ranges for 2026, item by item.
Mounting and connection costs only, HP supply not included.
Installation cost by technology and item
Ranges for the labour and connections only, HP supply excluded. The amounts include the installation materials (pipework, cabling, brackets).

What makes the installation cost vary
Two sites identical in technology can show differences of €2,000 or more. Here are the six items that influence the mounting cost.
- Accessibility of the plant room
A narrow basement, a cluttered room or a roof terrace with no easy access multiplies the mounting time. Accessibility is assessed during the technical survey.
- Length of the refrigerant lines
Each metre of copper pipework between the outdoor unit and the indoor module increases the supply and the labour. Beyond 15 m, an additional charge is often necessary.
- Adapting the heating network
Switching from high-temperature radiators to low-temperature radiators (or to underfloor heating) requires a partial replacement, invoiced on top of the HP mounting.
HP and underfloor heating → - Geothermal drilling
For ground-water, the vertical drilling (80 to 150 m per probe) is carried out by a specialised driller. This item alone represents €3,000 to €6,000 depending on the depth and the nature of the ground.
- Electrical upgrade
A three-phase meter or an ageing electrical panel may need bringing up to standard before the installation. A certified electrician then steps in as a complement.
- Sound insulation & location
Anti-vibration mount, decoupled concrete slab or acoustic enclosure: regulatory constraints (municipal orders) or neighbour considerations that generate additional costs.

The subsidies that cover part of the installation costs
Regional grants apply to the overall project cost (supply + mounting). A certified installer is an essential condition — we are one, and we put together the application.
Prime Habitation
The grant covers the entire project (equipment + installation). It is increased according to household income and conditional on replacing a fossil generator.
- Replacement of oil or gas heating
- HP with COP ≥ 3.5 (A++ label or higher)
- Installation by a certified professional
Renolution grants
Support for installing a high-performance heat pump. The mounting costs are eligible provided the invoice itemises the labour and supply items.
- HP for central heating or DHW
- Home more than 10 years old
- Itemised invoice with the installation item identified
Get your cost net of grants, within 48h
We check your region, your income and your current heating — we calculate the deductible grant and put together the complete application. You pay nothing upfront.
- Technical survey
A technician assesses accessibility, the length of the lines and the condition of the heating network.
- Detailed quote, item by item
Mounting, connections, commissioning, materials: every line is explained.
- Putting together the grant file
We gather certificates, technical sheets and regional forms.
- Deduction on the invoice
The grant is deducted directly — with no cash advance on your side.

Your questions on HP installation costs
How much does it cost to install an air-to-water heat pump?
For an air-to-water HP, the installation cost (mounting, hydraulic and electrical connection, commissioning) is between €2,500 and €4,500 in Belgium in 2026, excluding the supply of the HP itself. The accessibility of the room and the length of the lines are the main factors of variation.
Does installing an air-to-air HP cost less?
Yes, considerably. An air-to-air installation (mono-split) does not require a hydraulic connection: expect €800 to €1,500 for the mounting and the cabling. A multi-split with several indoor units can reach €2,500.
Is the geothermal drilling included in the installation cost?
No, the drilling is invoiced separately by a specialised driller. Expect €3,000 to €6,000 for one or two vertical wells of 80 to 120 m. This item is included in the overall range of €6,000 to €12,000 for the complete geothermal installation.
Is a certified installer mandatory?
Yes, for two reasons: handling refrigerants requires F-gas certification, and the regional grants (Wallonia, Brussels) require an invoice from an approved installer. Our technicians are certified and listed with the regional bodies.
How long does an installation take?
A simple air-to-air installation is done in half a day. An air-to-water HP with a complete hydraulic connection takes a full day, sometimes two if the heating network has to be adapted. A geothermal installation (with drilling) spreads over two to three days.
Are the installation costs covered by the grants?
Yes. The Wallonia and Renolution Brussels grants apply to the overall project cost, including labour. To benefit from them, the invoice must itemise the supply and installation items separately — which we always do.
