The price drivers

What makes the price of your heat pump vary

At equal output, two quotes can differ by several thousand euros. Here are the items that really weigh in.

  • Technology & output

Air-to-air, air-to-water or geothermal, then the output (kW) sized to your heat losses: that is the first price lever.

  • Hot water tank

Built into the monobloc unit or separate (200 to 300 litres), the DHW tank adds €1,000 to €2,500 to the budget depending on capacity and brand.

  • Heating network

Low-temperature radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units: adapting the existing network can add €2,000 to €5,000 to the bill.

  • Drilling or collectors

In geothermal, vertical drilling (80 to 150 m) or horizontal collectors account for 30 to 40% of the total budget.

  • Electrical connection

Meter rating, dedicated sub-panel, residual-current protection: an item that is sometimes underestimated.

  • Soundproofing & location

Anti-vibration mount, acoustic enclosure, distance from neighbours: constraints that can generate extra costs.

Grants & aid 2026

The grants that lighten your heat pump

Installing a heat pump to replace a fossil-fuel heating system opens the door to substantial regional grants and reduced VAT. Here are the 2026 benchmarks — we calculate the amount and file the paperwork for you.

Wallonia

Prime Habitation

up to 4 000 € air-to-water heat pump · up to €6,000 for geothermal

Grant for replacing an oil or gas heating system with a heat pump, scaled to your income.

  • Replacement of a fossil-fuel generator (oil, gas, coal)
  • Heat pump with a COP ≥ 3.5 (A++ label or higher)
  • Prior home audit required for the highest amounts

How it works, the wendows way
  1. We check your eligibility

Region, income, current heating type: we identify the grants you can claim.

  2. We size and cost it

Simplified heat assessment, choice of the right heat pump, quote net of grant.

  3. We file the paperwork

Forms, technical annexes, decommissioning certificate for the fossil-fuel system.

  4. We deduct where possible

The grant is taken off your bill, with no cash advance.

Price FAQ

Your questions about heat pump prices

How much does an air-to-water heat pump cost in 2026?

For a medium-output air-to-water heat pump (8 to 12 kW) supplied and installed, expect between €10,500 and €13,500 in Belgium, hot water tank included. Grants can cover up to €4,000 in Wallonia and up to €4,500 in Brussels.

Is an air-to-air heat pump cheaper?

Yes. An air-to-air heat pump (reversible air conditioning) starts at around €4,500 installed for a single-split and rises to about €8,000 for a multi-split. However, it does not produce domestic hot water and does not fully replace central heating.

Does the price include installation and connection?

Yes. The ranges are for a heat pump supplied, installed and connected (hydraulic and electrical). The quote itemises each line so there are no surprises.

What grants for a heat pump in 2026?

In Wallonia, the Prime Habitation can reach €4,000 for an air-to-water heat pump and €6,000 for geothermal. In Brussels, the Renolution grant goes up to €4,500. In both cases, the amount depends on your income and the type of heating replaced.

Is VAT reduced for a heat pump?

Yes. For renovation of a home over 10 years old, VAT is 6% instead of 21%. That is a significant saving on a €10,000 to €15,000 item. We check your eligibility from the first contact.

How long to recoup a heat pump?

When replacing an oil boiler, the return on investment is generally between 5 and 8 years thanks to fuel savings and grants. With current energy prices, the payback has improved markedly.
