What makes the price of mounting your solar panels vary
Two installations of the same capacity can show differences of €1,000 or more on the installation item alone. Here are the six parameters that weigh the most.
- Type of roof
Tiles, slates, steel deck or EPDM membrane: each material requires a different fixing system. Fixings on steel deck are the quickest; slates need specific hooks that lengthen the mounting.
- Pitch and orientation
A roof at 35–40° is ideal for productivity and makes mounting easier. A steep pitch (> 50°) or a flat roof requires specific structures and lengthens the working time.
- Height and access
Scaffolding becomes mandatory as soon as the height exceeds 5 m or the pitch makes working without protection dangerous. Allow an extra €300 to €700 for hire and assembly.
- Type of inverter
A central string inverter is the cheapest to install. Micro-inverters or optimisers, fitted panel by panel, add 1 to 2 hours to the mounting of a medium installation.

The link between the AC switchgear and the home’s electrical panel (up to the decoupling protection) varies according to the distance and the condition of the existing panel. Bringing the panel up to standard may be required.
- Scaffolding and logistics
Setting up scaffolding, lifting the panels and managing site waste are items often underestimated in low-priced quotes.
The subsidies that cover part of the installation costs
Regional grants apply to the overall project cost (supply + mounting). A certified installer is an essential condition — we are one, and we put together the application.
Prime Habitation — solar panels
The Walloon photovoltaic installation grant covers supply and mounting. It is calculated per band of installed kWp and increased for low incomes.

How much does solar panel installation cost in Belgium in 2026?
For a standard pitched roof, the mounting cost (fixings, cabling, connection to the meter and commissioning) is between €1,500 and €3,000 for a residential installation of 6 to 20 panels. A flat roof or a ground-mounted installation costs €500 to €1,500 more because of the specific structures.
Is scaffolding needed for the installation?
Yes, as soon as the gutter height exceeds 5 m or the roof pitch makes safe working impossible without protection. Scaffolding is generally included in our quote; if the house is terraced, a cherry picker may be preferred.
Is the meter connection included in the installation price?
Yes. The connection includes the link between the AC switchgear and the main electrical panel, the decoupling protection required by Ores/Sibelga and the administrative procedures with the grid operator. In Wallonia and Brussels, the commissioning request is handled by us.
Is a certified installer mandatory for the grants?
Yes. In Wallonia, the installer must be QUALIVOC-approved; in Brussels, they must be registered with Bruxelles Environnement. Without this condition, the grants are not accessible. Our technicians are certified and listed with the regional bodies.
How long does the installation take?
A residential installation of 8 to 14 panels is usually completed in one day. A large installation (20+ panels) or a complex roof (dormer, low pitch, difficult access) may extend over two days. Commissioning and production tests are included in this timeframe.
Are the installation costs covered by the grants?
Yes. The Wallonia and Bruxelles Environnement grants apply to the overall project cost, including labour. To benefit from them, the invoice must itemise the supply and installation items separately — which we always do.
