At equal capacity, two quotes can differ by several thousand euros. Here are the items that really weigh.
- Usable capacity in kWh
The net capacity determines how many hours of consumption you can cover. Going from 5 to 10 kWh does not systematically double the price thanks to economies of scale per module.
- Chemistry: LFP or NMC
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is safer, lasts 4 000+ cycles and costs slightly less. NMC offers higher energy density but ages faster in high heat.

An AC-coupled battery is added to an existing inverter (simpler, slightly less efficient). An all-in-one hybrid inverter is ideal for a new installation or a planned replacement.
- Guaranteed number of cycles
A 6 000-cycle warranty is worth more over time than a 3 000-cycle one. Compare the cost per kWh stored over the lifespan, not just the purchase price.
- Installation and wiring
Distance between the battery and the electrical panel, wall or floor mounting, mandatory fire protection: these items can add 300 to 800 € depending on the configuration.
- PV coupling and sizing
A battery oversized relative to your solar production is underused. A year-1 production audit is essential to choose the right capacity.

Renolution grant — storage
The Brussels Region supports the installation of a storage system linked to a photovoltaic installation via the Renolution programme. The amount can be adjusted according to your income.

How much does a solar battery cost in Belgium in 2026?
The price of a solar battery supplied and fitted ranges from 3 500 to 5 000 € for a 5 kWh model, 6 000 to 9 000 € for 10 kWh, and 9 000 to 14 000 € for capacities of 15 kWh and above. These ranges are incl. VAT, with fitting and connections included.
What is the price difference between an LFP and an NMC battery?
LFP batteries (lithium iron phosphate, e.g. BYD, Pylontech) are generally 10 to 15 % cheaper than NMC at equal capacity, and offer more life cycles (4 000 to 6 000 vs 2 000 to 3 500 for NMC). The total cost over the lifespan is often better with LFP.
Does the price of a solar battery include fitting?
Yes. The displayed ranges are for a battery supplied, fitted and connected (electrical wiring, commissioning, EMS configuration). The replacement or addition of a hybrid inverter is shown separately in the quote.
Are there grants for a solar battery in Belgium?
Brussels offers a Renolution grant of up to 1 500 € for adding storage coupled to PV. Wallonia does not directly grant the battery in 2026, but storage optimises your production eligible for green certificates. In Flanders, find out about the Mijn VerbouwPremie depending on your municipality.
Is VAT reduced for a solar battery?
