Above-ground pool heat pump: warm water with no building work and no big budget
Your tubular, self-supporting, steel or wooden pool deserves water at 28 °C. A compact mini heat pump (3 to 7 kW) connects to the existing filtration pipe in a few minutes and heats small pools of 10 to 30 m³. What a mini heat pump for an above-ground pool is worth
The concrete benchmarks to heat a small pool well without oversizing or getting the connection wrong. Useful figures, no marketing.

Mini models are more than enough for an above-ground pool. At our Belgian latitudes, count on roughly 1 kW per 4 to 5 m³ of water to warm up in two to three days, with a cover on at night.

For 1 kWh of electricity, the pump delivers 4 to 5 kWh of heat by drawing warmth from the air. That is five times better than an electric heater, where 1 kWh paid gives 1 kWh of heat.

Is a heat pump suitable for a tubular or self-supporting pool? +
Yes, it is its natural home in fact. Compact models connect directly to the filter unit supplied with your tubular, self-supporting, steel or wooden pool. The filtration pump just needs to provide a minimum flow, which is the case with most off-the-shelf kits.
How does the heat pump connect to my pool? +
Plug & play: we slot the pump onto the filtration pipe, after the filter, using standard Ø32/38 mm fittings and a bypass kit. No earthworks or heavy plumbing. Start-up takes under an hour and the power supply is 230 V single-phase.
What output for my small pool? +

Does the heat pump use a lot of electricity? +
No, that is the whole point. With a COP of 4 to 5, it delivers 4 to 5 kWh of heat for 1 kWh used. In peak season, the cost is around €0.30 a day, five times less than an electric heater. A solar installation makes it almost free.
Do you really need a cover? +
Strongly recommended. Without a cover, the pool loses much of the heat gained during the day overnight, and the pump runs for nothing. A simple bubble cover retains the heat and reduces evaporation: it is the accessory that pays off your heat pump the most.
Can I use it all year round? +
May to September really. The heat pump draws warmth from the air: its efficiency drops when the air turns cold. In the depths of a Belgian winter, it is not suitable. Its role is to extend the swimming season into the shoulder seasons, not to heat an outdoor pool in winter.
