Garage door: sectional, motorised and well insulated
An attached garage is a real source of heat loss. A sectional garage door with an insulated panel, motorised and secured, changes everything: everyday comfort, space saved and a RAL colour matched to your windows. Fitting and adjustment by our teams, everywhere in Belgium.

What a garage door is really worth
The figures that matter for a quality garage door, fitted and adjusted by our teams. Concrete benchmarks, not marketing.
- Opening type 4 types
Ceiling sectional (the most common), side sectional (folds away to the side, easy pedestrian access), roller (minimal clearance above the lintel) or up-and-over (economical). The choice depends on the volume available in the garage.
- Panel insulation U 1.0–1.4 W/m²K
The 40 mm double-wall sandwich panel with polyurethane foam sharply limits the losses of an attached, heated garage. Perimeter seals and a watertight threshold complete the assembly against air and water.
- Motorisation As standard
Quiet motor, remote controls, smartphone opening and partial pedestrian access. Obstacle detection stops and reverses the door if there is something in the way — an essential safety feature with children or pets.
- Anti-break-in security Auto-locking
When stopped, the motor mechanically locks the door; on the side sectional, a cylinder reinforces the access. The anti-finger-trap sections also protect hands on closing.
- Space saving 0 overhang
The sectional folds up under the ceiling without overhanging in front of the garage: you can park right up against the door. The up-and-over, by contrast, swings outwards — a decisive detail on a short driveway.
- Finish & colours RAL of choice
Lacquered steel or aluminium, horizontal ribbing or cassette, smooth or wood-effect structure. The full RAL range to match the door to your windows and your front door.
* Indicative values for a common-range sectional door with an insulated panel. Exact performance depends on the model, the dimensions and the motorisation — confirmed at the site survey.
Pros & cons of a garage door
No solution is perfect for every garage. Here, honestly, is where a motorised garage door makes the difference and what you should anticipate.
Where it stands out
- Real space savingThe sectional does not overhang: you park right up against the door, even on a short driveway.
- Motorisation comfortRemote opening, by smartphone, obstacle detection and partial pedestrian access.
- Better-insulated garageThe insulated panel and seals clearly reduce the losses of an attached garage.
- Matching coloursFull RAL range to harmonise the door with your windows and your façade.
What you should know
- Lintel & clearance requiredThe ceiling sectional needs a lintel and sufficient interior clearance; otherwise, we turn to the roller or the side version.
- Cost of motorisationA quality motor and its safety features represent part of the budget — but it is for daily use.
- Electrical supplyA dedicated socket near the door is needed; we plan for it before fitting if it is missing.
- Periodic maintenanceRails, springs and motor deserve greasing and an annual check to last without jolts.
Which garage door for you?
The right type depends on the garage volume, the use and the driveway. A few frequent cases where each solution is the obvious one:
-
Attached & heated garage
Living space, workshop or garage linked to the house: the sectional with an insulated panel limits the losses and the cold rising towards the home.
-
Short or sloping driveway
When every metre counts in front of the garage, the sectional or the roller opens without overhanging. No risk of hitting a vehicle parked in front.
-
Façade to harmonise
Façade renovation or new build: we match the RAL colour and the ribbing of the door to your windows and your front door.
If the ceiling clearance is missing, the roller fits into a compact box above the lintel. To coordinate all the accesses, take a look at the front door and our shutters.

An up-and-over door replaced with an insulated, motorised sectional
The attached garage, turned into a heated workshop, was losing its heat through an old up-and-over door. We fitted a sectional door with a 40 mm insulated panel, motorised with obstacle detection and smartphone control, in RAL 7016 matched to the windows. The cold that rose into the hallway disappeared.

Your questions about the garage door
Which type of door should I choose: sectional, roller, side or up-and-over? +
It all depends on the available volume. The ceiling sectional suits most garages and does not overhang. The side version folds away to one side and offers easy pedestrian access. The roller fits into a compact box when the lintel is too low. The up-and-over remains the most economical option, but it swings outwards. We choose together at the site survey.
Is an insulated garage door really worthwhile? +
Yes, especially for a garage attached to the house or turned into a living space. A 40 mm insulated sandwich panel, perimeter seals and a watertight threshold strongly limit the losses and the cold rising towards the home. The comfort gained is immediate from the very next winter.
Is the motorisation safe for children? +
Yes. Obstacle detection automatically stops and reverses the door if a presence is detected on closing, and the anti-finger-trap sections protect hands. You can open from the remote control or the smartphone, and activate a partial pedestrian access without raising the whole door.
Can the garage door be matched to my windows? +
Absolutely. The door can be ordered in the full RAL range, in lacquered steel or aluminium, with different ribbing and finishes. We align the colour and the style with your windows and your front door for a coherent façade.
What if my lintel is too low for a sectional? +
That is precisely the case where the roller comes into its own: the curtain rolls up into a compact box that requires only a small clearance above the opening. The side sectional is another alternative when the ceiling is lacking but a folding-away wall is available.
Does a garage door qualify for grants or the reduced VAT rate? +
In the renovation of a home over ten years old, the fitting benefits from the 6% VAT rate. An insulated garage door can, in some cases, fall within energy-improvement works qualifying for a renovation grant depending on your region and income. We check eligibility and handle the paperwork for you.
