Cleaning of solar panels

Over time, moss, lichen, pollen, dust and bird droppings form an opaque veil over your modules and eat into your output. We clean your panels with demineralised water, no abrasive product or detergent, to restore the yield safely.

What we clean

Everything that soils your modules, gently removed

A soiled module sends less light back to the cells: every opaque deposit is a loss of output. We deal with all the soiling that builds up on a Belgian roof.

Dust removal & pollen

In spring, pollen and dust form a thin but continuous film that veils the surface and dampens output across the whole array.

Moss & lichen

Along the frame edges and on the least exposed areas, moss and lichen take hold, retain moisture and create stubborn cast shadows.

Bird droppings

Opaque and acidic, droppings completely mask the cells concerned and can cause hot spots. We remove them without scraping the glass.

Pollution & soot

Near a main road or an urban area, soot and pollution particles cling to the glass and form a greasy film that reduces light transmission.

Frame & drainage

Cleaning around the frames and drainage points, where moss and debris accumulate and trap water against the module.

Post-cleaning visual check

Once clean, the array is visually inspected: glass, frames, fixings and exposed wiring, to flag any points of attention.

How it works

From output reading to clean glass

  1. Output assessment

We note your recent output and observe the degree of soiling of the modules to target the cleaning and measure the gain.

  2. Cleaning with demineralised water

Washing the modules with demineralised water using a soft brush and telescopic pole: no detergent, no abrasive product that could mark the glass.

  3. Streak-free rinsing

Demineralised water dries without leaving any mineral deposit: no limescale marks, a perfectly transparent surface once dry.

  4. Output check

We check the return of output via your monitoring and give you a clear summary of the array’s condition and the recommended frequency.

Clean or soiled?

The output gap shows on the curve

At equal sunshine, a clean array produces noticeably more than one veiled by moss and pollen. A targeted cleaning recovers 5 to 15% of output on heavily soiled modules — often the equivalent of several months of savings.

  • Clean modules: full light transmission, nominal output
  • Soiled modules: opaque veil, cast shadows and hot spots
  • Regular cleaning: yield maintained and lifespan preserved

Are your panels veiled with moss or pollen?

Cleaning with demineralised water restores the yield without risking the glass. We schedule the work within a few days.

Frequently asked questions

Solar panel cleaning

How often should solar panels be cleaned?

In Belgium, cleaning every 1 to 2 years is enough in most cases. The frequency depends on the surroundings: being close to trees (pollen, leaves, droppings), a main road (soot), a livestock farm or a low roof tilt speeds up soiling and justifies a more frequent visit.

Isn’t rain enough to clean the panels?

Rain rinses off the lightest dust, but it removes neither ingrained moss and lichen, nor sticky pollen, nor droppings. Worse, at the bottom of the module rainwater laden with soiling dries into a stubborn deposit. Professional cleaning remains necessary to recover the full transparency of the glass.

Is there a risk of scratching the panels?

No. We wash with demineralised water using a soft brush and a telescopic pole, with no abrasive product or detergent that could mark the glass or the anti-reflective coating. The surface is preserved and the rinse dries without leaving any mineral trace.

Do you work at height safely?

Yes. Our technicians have the right equipment for working at height (telescopic poles to clean from the ground where possible, rooftop safety devices otherwise) and follow the safety rules. You don’t have to climb onto your roof.
